Defending champion Comilla Victorians showed off some pride after being thrown out of the tournament. In the 35th match of the fourth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), they have emerged as victorious in a big margin of 8 wickets against Rajshahi Kings at the Sher – E – Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka some moments ago.
Comilla Victorians chased down the victory target of 124 runs quite emphatically with 8 balls remaining in hand. They have just lost 2 wickets in the process.
Victorians’ Caribbean recruit Marlon Samuels led the team to seal the victory with an unbeaten 55 runs. Scoring the bulk of the runs, Samuels played 41 deliveries, ravaged the opponent bowling line up hitting hard with the bat through capitalizing 4 enormous sixes as well as 2 fours.
Comilla Victorians’ innings started whimsically; Mehedi Hasan Miraz picked up the inform opener Imrul Kayes when the team score was 16. Imrul scored 9 runs playing double number of deliveries with 2 fours.

Other opener Nurul Hasan departed one over after Mominul Haque scoring 17 off 13 with 2 shots of four. Hard hitter Sabbir Rahman fizzled in the batting crease; the one down batsman poised no more than 8 runs facing 12 balls in his innings after that all chaotic conflict with Ahmed Shehzad for which he has been fined by the match officials.
Rajshahi Kings’ losing streak kept continued, within 9 runs, they lost 3 mainstream wickets including that of Mehedi Hasan Miraz who scored 7 runs off 10 balls.
James Franklin was the one to rescue the team from disaster as they lost 5 wickets among 59 runs. Franklin built up little but useful cameo partnerships with Farhad Reza to help past the innings hundred run mark. Skipper Darren Sammy made a first ball duck.
Franklin, on his way to a not out 44 runs united for 19 runs with Farhad Reza in the seventh wicket; Reza scored 13 off 14. Franklin’s 44 run came off 31 deliveries, contained 3 sixes along with 2 fours.
Comilla Victorians being thrown out of the competition after suffering successive defeats, has also literally thrown Rajshahi Kings out of the tournament now with this win.
