Abu Naser Muhammad Rahmatullah, member of BNP’s National Executive Committee, has stated that all attempts to disrupt communal harmony in the country have been thwarted by the people.

He said Bangladesh is a secular country where people of all religions and backgrounds stand by each other in times of happiness and sorrow. However, some conspirators have been trying to undermine the country’s traditional harmony. But today’s aware citizens have successfully resisted these plots.

Rahmatullah made these remarks while exchanging greetings with members of the Hindu community during the Diwali festival celebration in Kawnia, Barishal city, on Sunday (August 19). The event was marked by a spirit of friendship and unity.

He further added that after August 5, there were planned efforts to create communal unrest in various parts of the country. However, under the direction of BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman, party leaders and democratic forces stood firmly beside the Hindu community. Vanguard members provided security by guarding every temple during the festival. It was the people who ultimately foiled the conspirators’ plans.

Rahmatullah also noted that some unscrupulous groups are still attempting to disturb communal harmony. Those involved in such acts are enemies not only of one religion but of the entire nation and democracy. BNP remains committed to protecting the security and dignity of people of all religions and communities.

He said that under Tarique Rahman’s leadership, BNP will work to build a Bangladesh through the implementation of its 31-point manifesto, where people of all faiths, races, and communities will live with equal rights and dignity. Their goal is a happy, prosperous, and democratic Bangladesh.

The Diwali celebration was attended by leaders of the Hindu community, representatives of religious and social organizations, BNP local leaders, and members of the general public. At the end of the event, Rahmatullah lit lamps at the temple premises and called for peace, harmony, and unity.
