A fresh wave of Ukrainian drones targeted Moscow for the second consecutive night, prompting Russian air defenses to intercept and destroy at least 19 drones approaching the capital. In response, authorities temporarily shut down four major airports in Moscow and several regional airports as a precaution.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported that debris from the intercepted drones fell in various parts of the city, but no casualties or significant damage were reported. Emergency services have been deployed to assess and secure the affected areas.

According to Russian-affiliated Telegram channels Baza, Mash, and Shot, one drone struck near a residential apartment complex in the southern part of the capital, shattering windows but causing no injuries.

Russia’s civil aviation authority, Rosaviatsiya, confirmed in a Telegram post that all flights at Moscow’s major airports were temporarily halted due to the security threat.

The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine began nearly three years ago when Moscow launched what it called a “special military operation.” Since then, Ukraine has carried out several drone strikes on Russian territory, including a major attack in March that killed three people.

Ukraine has not issued an official statement regarding the latest incident, but Kyiv has repeatedly said that it targets Russian infrastructure used in military operations, often in retaliation for continued Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities and energy facilities.
