Hasnat Abdullah, the chief organizer of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP) for the southern region, has issued a one-hour ultimatum demanding a formal ban on the Awami League as a political party.
He made the announcement during a mass gathering at Shahbagh in Dhaka on Saturday evening (May 10), stating, “I am giving the interim government one hour—ban the Awami League within this time. The clock is ticking.”
Issuing a stern warning, Hasnat added, “If the announcement doesn’t come within the hour, we will seize control of the area from the InterContinental Hotel to Banglamotor. This movement will not retreat. We will not leave the streets until the Awami League is banned.”
He further said that if their demand is not met, even more intense programs will follow.
