The Adviser to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, has stated that Bangladesh does not consider India’s push-in as provocation. He also emphasized that Bangladesh remains firm on its policy of sending back Indians residing in the country through proper diplomatic channels.
He made these comments after inaugurating the Boyesing Floating Border Observation Post (BOP) in the southwestern region of the Sundarbans in Shyamnagar Upazila, Satkhira, on Saturday morning (May 17).
The Home Ministry Adviser mentioned that he had spoken with the Indian Ambassador in Dhaka and had sent a letter to the Indian government. The letter requests that instead of the push-in, Bangladeshis should be sent back through proper diplomatic procedures.
Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiquee, Director General of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), added that there is a risk of militants and terrorists entering the country through push-ins, but they are optimistic about successfully preventing such activities.
