The National Economic Council (NEC) has approved an Annual Development Programme (ADP) worth Tk 2.3 trillion for the fiscal year 2025-26, which is Tk 35,000 crore less than the previous year’s allocation.

The decision was made at a meeting held on Sunday, May 18, at the NEC conference room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka. The meeting was chaired by Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus. After the meeting, the Planning Adviser briefed the media on the details.

Of the approved ADP, Tk 1.44 trillion will be financed from government funds and Tk 860 billion from foreign aid. With the addition of Tk 85.997 billion from the agencies’ own funding, the total size of the ADP rises to Tk 2.386 trillion.

Nearly 69.93% of the total allocation is earmarked for five key sectors: transport and communication, power and energy, education, housing and community amenities, and health.

The highest allocation goes to the Local Government Division, receiving Tk 360.9876 billion, followed by the Roads and Highways Division, Power Division, Secondary and Higher Education Division, and Ministry of Science and Technology.

Compared to the previous fiscal year’s ADP of Tk 2.65 trillion, this year’s allocation reflects a 13.20% reduction.
