After an 11-week blockade, 107 humanitarian aid trucks finally entered the besieged Gaza Strip on Thursday, May 22. The trucks crossed into Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing, carrying supplies sent by the United Nations and the international community.

Israeli authorities confirmed their cooperation in delivering the aid but emphasized strict measures to ensure that the supplies do not fall into the hands of Hamas.

Although this marks a positive step, it remains unclear whether the aid has reached the civilians in need. Over 2.1 million people in Gaza face severe food shortages, with fears of famine growing across many areas.

Human rights organizations have urged the international community to provide continuous and sustained humanitarian assistance. While the entry of aid trucks is a hopeful sign, much more is needed to address the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
