The Bangladesh Banks Employees Federation organized a discussion and prayer ceremony to mark the 44th martyrdom anniversary of the late President Ziaur Rahman.
The event was held on Thursday (May 29) afternoon at the Dilkhosh Hall of Hotel Purani International in Dhaka.
Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, member of the BNP’s National Standing Committee, attended as the chief guest. The session was presided over by Md. Rafiqul Islam and conducted by Kazi Abul Basar and Abu Md. Ahsanul Habib.
In his speech, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy remembered Ziaur Rahman with deep respect and emotion, highlighting his patriotism, leadership qualities, and significant contributions to establishing multiparty democracy. He described Ziaur Rahman as a courageous leader who made immense sacrifices for the country.
Abdus Salam, advisor to the BNP chairman and a war veteran, spoke about the ideals and legacy of the late president, noting that Zia’s principles continue to inspire nationalist forces.
Speakers emphasized Ziaur Rahman’s life philosophy, love for the country, and sacrifices, urging the younger generation to be inspired by his spirit.
The event concluded with a prayer ceremony seeking mercy for the departed soul of the martyr president and praying for the peace, progress, and welfare of the nation.
