Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir has dismissed rumors about party president Rakibul Islam Rakib being removed from his position, calling them “baseless, misleading, and politically motivated propaganda.”

In a verified Facebook post on Friday (May 30), Nasir clarified that Rakib had been suffering from fever and cold due to prolonged exposure to rain during recent political programs, which is why he was unable to attend the day’s event. “I wish him a speedy recovery,” he added.

Nasir wrote, “During this time of illness, a number of unfounded rumors have been spread regarding Rakib bhai. These are completely intentional and misleading. I urge everyone to refrain from paying attention to such rumors.”

Earlier in the day, rumors began circulating on social media that Rakib had lost his post. The speculation gained traction after he was absent from a wreath-laying ceremony at the grave of former President Ziaur Rahman, held in observance of his death anniversary.

In Rakib’s absence, JCD Senior Vice President Abu Afsan Mohammad Yahia and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir led the program.

So far, neither BNP nor the JCD has made any official announcement regarding Rakib’s removal from office.
