Actress Azmeri Haque Badhon has voiced her frustration over the current political landscape in Bangladesh. Known for her active presence both on social media and in street movements since the student protests, Badhon recently criticized the actions of emerging political parties in a Facebook post.
In her post on Friday (May 30), she wrote, “The new political parties are walking the same old path — only the faces have changed.”
Badhon expressed that while many people had high hopes for fresh ideas and meaningful change with the rise of new political platforms, those expectations are now fading.
She stated, “Real change doesn’t come from simply replacing one group with another. It requires new thinking, honest leadership, and effective strategies. Sadly, the same old power games are being played again.”
Clarifying that her criticism isn't aimed at any single party, she emphasized that all political actors need to rethink their approach if they truly want to move the country forward.
“We don’t need a reshuffling of power; we need genuine progress. And progress comes from wise decisions and fresh ideas. If we keep following the old path, we’ll end up with the same old results,” she added.
On a different note, Badhon is set to appear in the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha release Esha Murder, directed by Sunny Sanwar. In the film, she plays the role of a police officer alongside co-stars Misha Sawdagor, Sushama Sarkar, and Shahiduzzaman Selim.
