Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, has announced that he is ready to engage in dialogue anytime for the sake of the country’s interests—however, he emphasized that there will be no personal concessions or benefits involved. He conveyed this message to his party leaders while still in prison. This was reported by the Pakistani news outlet The Express Tribune on Friday (May 30).
Speaking with party leaders in prison, Imran Khan said, “For national unity and Pakistan’s interests, I am willing to enter into discussions at any time. But I will not negotiate for personal release or favors.”
He also mentioned that the door for dialogue remains open, and he is ready to participate whenever it serves the country’s progress and unity.
PTI Senator Ali Zafar, who recently met Imran Khan in prison, stated, “Khan has made it clear that if he wanted personal benefits, he would have sought them long ago and would not have spent so many days in jail. Any compromise will only be for the country’s benefit.”
Regarding recent comments from Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, Ali Zafar added, “Khan has said he does not seek any special concessions in his cases; he only wants justice and that his cases be heard without delay.”
This call for political dialogue from prison has added a new dimension to the country’s politics. Now, the question remains how the ruling authorities will respond to this message amid the ongoing political stalemate.
