The Bangladesh Army has issued a firm response against a false and baseless report published by the Indian media outlet Northeast News.

In a post on its verified Facebook page on Sunday (June 1), the Army stated that the article titled “Bangladesh to declare Cox’s Bazar to Bandarban area as a Military Operations Zone” is completely false, unfounded, and deliberately misleading. The post added that such reports are part of a planned attempt by some Indian media to destabilize Bangladesh’s internal security and damage the reputation of the Bangladesh Armed Forces.

The report falsely suggests that the Bangladesh Army supports terrorist or separatist groups, which the Army categorically denies as baseless, untrue, and a malicious act of defamation. The post described this fabricated and unsubstantiated news as part of a larger conspiracy aimed at spreading confusion and discord among the public.

The Bangladesh Army emphasized that it always operates with the highest professionalism to protect the nation’s sovereignty, integrity, and constitution, and has never compromised on the country’s interests — nor will it in the future. Such fabricated stories cannot be called journalism; rather, they are part of a deliberate and ongoing smear campaign.

The post concluded by affirming that Bangladesh remains united, and the Army remains fully prepared and committed to safeguarding the country’s people and territory.
