The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has found preliminary evidence of irregularities in the appointment of the wife of Atik Morshed, the personal officer to Fayez Ahmed Tayyeb, ICT Affairs Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor of mobile financial service provider Nagad.
On Sunday, June 1, an ACC team conducted a drive at Nagad’s office in Gulshan. Following the operation, ACC Assistant Director (Public Relations) Tanjir Ahmed stated that inconsistencies were discovered in the recruitment process. “Preliminary findings suggest irregularities in the hiring of Jakia Sultana Jui, wife of Atik Morshed,” he said.
The ACC official added that Atik Morshed and his wife may be summoned for questioning as part of a broader investigation into the matter.
In addition, the ACC is verifying allegations of embezzlement involving Tk 150 crore. Relevant documents have been requested from Nagad, and a detailed report will be submitted to the Commission after analysis.
Meanwhile, on May 30, Atik Morshed denied the allegations in a Facebook post, claiming that the accusations of embezzlement through fake bills and vouchers are false. He also stated that his wife was appointed to her position at Nagad based on merit and qualifications.
