Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Advisor to the Home Ministry, has announced the cancellation of police leave as a special measure to ensure security and law and order during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
He conveyed this information at a press briefing held at the Secretariat on Tuesday (June 3).
Jahangir Alam Chowdhury stated that the government has taken strict measures to maintain law and order in the capital ahead of the 10-day Eid holiday.
He also emphasized that the government is firmly committed to stopping extortion during the Eid travel period and will take action against anyone involved, regardless of their political affiliation.
Strict legal action will be taken against vehicles without fitness certificates and those charging excessive fares during Eid.
He added that, as in previous years, all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure passengers have a safe and smooth journey, and officials have been instructed not to collect fares beyond the regulated rates.
