Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain has stated that Bangladeshi citizens and businesspeople are largely responsible for the suspension of visa services by several countries. He emphasized the need to address internal issues first, saying, “The way people are traveling—often without following proper regulations—is creating problems.”

He made these remarks on Tuesday (June 3) during a media briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on various contemporary issues.

Touhid Hossain urged everyone to engage in self-reflection and corrective measures in light of the increasing visa restrictions by foreign nations.

Regarding U.S. student visas, he clarified that the Bangladeshi government has no control over such decisions made by the United States.

Speaking about the recent suspension of transshipment through India, the Foreign Affairs Adviser described it as a “blessing in disguise.” He explained that Bangladesh has already developed alternatives, and therefore, the cancellation has not caused any significant disruption.

When asked about foreign interest in Bangladesh’s upcoming national election, Touhid Hossain said that inquiries from friendly foreign nations are met with the official stance of the government. He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs fully supports the government’s decisions regarding the election. According to him, the next election is expected to be held sometime between December and June.
