As people rush home to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury visited Dhaka’s Kamalapur Railway Station on Wednesday (June 4) to observe the situation. During his visit, he spoke with passengers and inquired about their experiences with ticketing and travel arrangements.
While stepping out of his car at the station, a young street child named Ramin approached him and greeted him with a respectful salute. As the Adviser came closer, Ramin attempted to touch his feet out of reverence. However, the Adviser gently stopped him and blessed him instead.
A video of the touching moment quickly went viral on social media, stirring strong emotions among viewers.
In the video, the Adviser can be seen trying to offer Ramin some money. But the boy humbly refuses, repeatedly saying,
“Sir, I don’t need any money. No, no—please, I don’t need it.”
Despite several attempts, the Adviser was unable to convince Ramin to accept the money. As the boy began to walk away, the Adviser called him back one last time and lovingly placed his hand on Ramin’s head.
When asked by reporters about the moment, Ramin said,
“I felt really good when Sir stepped out of his car and held me.”
Explaining why he refused the money, he added,
“If I take it, people will say bad things. That money would last only two days. I don’t need money—his blessing is enough.”
Ramin also shared that he is originally from Jaheerpur village in Netrokona district.
