A video showing a passenger’s disruptive behavior and abusive language at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport recently went viral on social media, sparking widespread discussion and criticism. To clear up confusion surrounding the incident, the Civil Aviation Authority (BEBICHOK) and airport authorities have officially clarified their position.

In a statement issued on Wednesday night (June 4), BEBICHOK said that on June 3 at 1:36 AM, a passenger named Md. Tuhin Ali suddenly started shouting and using abusive language during security patrol at Boarding Bridge-6 of Malaysia Airlines flight MH-196.

According to the statement, when two Malaysia Airlines officials tried to return his passport and baggage, he refused to cooperate, throwing his passport, baggage, and Malaysian currency while making obscene remarks about his parents. The situation escalated as passengers and staff gathered around, disrupting the screening process for another flight at the same boarding bridge.

Security personnel and airline representatives later tried to complete his immigration process and escort him to the baggage belt area, but he refused and aggressively moved towards Belt No. 1, continuing his disruptive behavior.

Contact with his family revealed that Md. Tuhin Ali had a history of similar behavior under the influence of drugs, and on that rainy night, it was not possible for them to pick him up. After the situation calmed down, he left the airport at around 5:30 AM.

BEBICHOK emphasized that the airport authorities, Civil Aviation, and the airline staff handled the situation with professionalism and patience. However, misinformation spread through parts of the video has caused public misunderstanding.

The authority has urged the public and media to verify facts before sharing or reporting such incidents in the future, stressing the importance of protecting the reputation of the country’s key infrastructure.
