Gold Prices Increased Again Ahead of Eid

Just before Eid, gold prices in Bangladesh have been raised once again—this time by nearly Tk 2,500 per bhori (11.664 grams).

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced the price hike in a statement issued on Thursday night (June 5).

According to the new rates, the price of the best quality gold (22-carat) has been increased by Tk 2,415 per bhori, bringing the new price to Tk 172,336. The price of 21-carat gold has gone up by Tk 2,297 per bhori to Tk 164,497.

The statement also said that the price of 18-carat gold has risen by Tk 1,971 per bhori, now standing at Tk 140,994. Traditional method gold has been increased by Tk 1,691 per bhori, with the new price set at Tk 116,640. These new rates will take effect from Friday (June 6), BAJUS confirmed.

Previously, on May 21, BAJUS last adjusted gold prices, raising the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,823 to Tk 169,921 per bhori. At that time, 21-carat gold was priced at Tk 162,200, 18-carat at Tk 139,023, and traditional gold at Tk 114,949 per bhori. Those rates became effective on May 22.

So far this year, BAJUS has adjusted gold prices 37 times—25 increases and only 12 reductions. In comparison, during 2024, gold prices were adjusted a total of 62 times, with 35 hikes and 27 reductions.
