Dhaka city was cleaned of all sacrificial waste in less than 12 hours, according to Local Government Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan. He emphasized that keeping the city clean is not just a goal, but a daily responsibility.

In a post on his verified Facebook page on Saturday night (June 7), Asif Mahmud shared the update, writing that the massive cleanup operation was completed in less than 12 hours through a coordinated effort by the Dhaka North and South City Corporations.

He noted that this achievement reflects not only efficiency and competence but also the commitment and timely action of the local government to serve public welfare. He credited the successful operation to the sense of civic duty among residents and the tireless efforts of the city’s sanitation workers.

Expressing gratitude, he said, “Those whose hard work made this possible are the silent heroes of our city. A clean Dhaka in under 12 hours—this is the power of dedication and discipline. They may not be in the spotlight, but their work defines our city.”

Asif Mahmud also mentioned that similar cleanliness operations were successfully carried out in all city corporations across the country during Eid-ul-Azha.

Earlier that day, he inaugurated the waste management program in Dhaka’s Kalabagan area. Speaking at the event, he said that removing sacrificial waste after Eid is always a challenge, but the target was to complete it within the night. “Waste removal will be completed within 12 hours, so that it does not disrupt the joy of Eid,” he added.
