The grief of losing her mother, Sridevi, remains one of the most painful chapters in actress Janhvi Kapoor’s life. During that difficult period, her boyfriend, Shikhar Pahariya, stood by her side, even though their relationship had not yet been officially acknowledged. To support Janhvi during her time of loss, Shikhar reportedly returned to Mumbai from London in the middle of his studies. The actress will share this memory in an upcoming episode of Karan Johar’s popular chat show, Koffee with Karan Season 9.
In February 2018, actress Sridevi died accidentally in a hotel bathtub in Dubai. Her sudden death plunged the film industry into mourning. Janhvi and her sister, Khushi Kapoor, were devastated by the loss of their mother. Shikhar’s support during that difficult time remains especially meaningful to Janhvi.
In the upcoming episode of Koffee with Karan, host Karan Johar will bring up the subject. Janhvi revealed that Shikhar was studying in London when Sridevi passed away. However, he interrupted his studies before the semester ended and returned to Mumbai to be there for Janhvi.
Janhvi later learned that Shikhar had stayed at a friend’s house in Juhu for nearly a month so that he could be nearby if she needed him.
According to Janhvi, they did not necessarily meet every day. However, she later discovered that Shikhar had said, “If she ever needs me, I just want to be around her.”
Janhvi has spoken about her relationship with Shikhar on several occasions. In April this year, during an appearance on Raj Shamani’s podcast, she said that his presence gives her a sense of emotional security. According to the actress, love has helped her trust her own thoughts, express her opinions and feel comfortable even during vulnerable moments.
Earlier, in an interview with Mirchi Plus, Janhvi revealed that Shikhar had been part of her life since she was 15 or 16 years old. She also described how they had become a source of support and reassurance for each other.
The upcoming episode of Koffee with Karan Season 9 will also feature Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor alongside Janhvi. The episode is scheduled to stream on Disney+ Hotstar from 7 pm on Wednesday.
