Dr. Shafiqul Rahman, the Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, stated that fascism still exists in the country and will not be accepted. He warned that if anyone attempts to rig the upcoming election, their hands will be crippled.
Calling for a society based on equality and justice, he said many have turned the country into a graveyard by falsely promising a golden Bengal in the past, and such mistakes must not be repeated. People desire change in society, so all Islamic forces must unite and work together. However, caution must be maintained against efforts that create divisions.
Dr. Shafiqul Rahman made these remarks on Saturday (June 7) during an Eid greeting exchange event organized by the Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami at the Kulaura Municipality Hall.
He further emphasized that the true leaders capable of guiding the nation are the scholars and religious leaders, to whom he expressed deep respect. With religious leadership, Bangladesh will become a beautiful and prosperous country. Sustainable development is not possible without religious and moral guidance. The person who leads prayers at the mosque is the most suitable to lead society, as they possess the qualities to guide people on the path of truth and justice.
Speaking about the ideals and leadership of former Jamaat Amir Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami, he said there is much to learn from him. In just three and a half years, Nizami revived 37 closed industrial enterprises. If the country’s ministries were placed in the hands of capable and principled scholars, Bangladesh would, God willing, be restored to progress.
After the discussion, he exchanged greetings with local leaders and addressed various questions regarding the future development of Kulaura.
