US Vice President JD Vance found himself in an awkward situation after joking with his wife, Usha Vance, about having a fifth child. Usha did not share his enthusiasm. Instead, she warned that if he brought up having another baby while they were still caring for their three-month-old infant, even as a joke, she would announce on social media platform X that he was getting a vasectomy. Following his wife’s warning, Vance decided to drop the idea.
Vance shared the amusing exchange during an interview with Fox News. He said that a few days earlier, he had jokingly suggested to Usha that they expand their family.
“I want six kids. A couple of days ago, I jokingly told Usha, ‘Let’s have a fifth one,’” Vance said.
In response, Usha warned him that if he even joked about having another child while they were raising their three-month-old baby, she would announce on X that he was getting a vasectomy.
Vance added, “So I’m not saying that anymore.”
