The formal rituals of Hajj have come to an end, and Bangladeshi pilgrims are now preparing to return home. Starting today, Tuesday (June 10), return flights for Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims will commence and continue until July 10.

This year, a total of 87,157 pilgrims from Bangladesh performed Hajj. Among them, 19 have passed away. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has shut down 436 fake Hajj agencies and arrested 462 individuals for violating Hajj-related regulations.

So far, 190 Bangladeshi pilgrims have received medical treatment during their stay in Saudi Arabia, while 23 others remain admitted to government hospitals there.

The Hajj rituals began on June 4 with pilgrims arriving in Mina. On June 5, they gathered at the plains of Arafat, completing the primary rites of Hajj. The following day, June 6, they performed animal sacrifices and stoned the symbolic pillars representing Satan. Pilgrims then concluded their Hajj with the farewell Tawaf and Sa’i.

According to Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health, cases of heat-related illnesses have decreased by 90% this year compared to the previous year. There has been no significant rise in hospitalizations or admissions to intensive care units due to heat stress.

Notably, during the 2024 Hajj season, temperatures in Mecca soared to 51.8°C. That extreme heat claimed the lives of at least 1,301 pilgrims and caused heat-related illnesses in 2,764 others. In response, Saudi authorities implemented extensive measures this year to prevent heat-related health issues during the pilgrimage.
