Bollywood actor Aamir Khan is currently busy promoting his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par. Amid the promotional activities, he opened up about his personal life, specifically his past relationships with ex-wives Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao.
Speaking candidly about his two failed marriages, Aamir said, “In India, we treat marriage with great seriousness. When a marriage ends in divorce, people generally don’t take it well. I understand that, and I agree—marriage should never be taken lightly.”
He admitted that the breakdown of both marriages was painful, not only for him but also for his family. “My marriage with Reena didn’t last, and neither did my relationship with Kiran. It was a loss for all of us. No one was happy about it. But the circumstances left us with no other option. I could’ve pretended in front of the world that Kiran and I were happy, but that would’ve been a lie.”
From his first marriage with Reena Dutta, Aamir has two children—Junaid and Ira. He married filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005, and they have a son named Azad. The couple announced their separation in 2021.
In March 2024, on his 60th birthday, Aamir introduced his girlfriend, Gauri Suresh Spraat, to the media. Since then, the two have been seen attending several events together.
