On the occasion of World Earth Day, Dhanmondi Thana Jubo Dal organized a remarkable environmental awareness campaign. As part of the initiative, they carried out a large-scale waste removal drive at key points across Dhanmondi, setting a powerful example of community-led cleanliness.
The campaign began in the morning from Dhanmondi 32 and extended through Sobhanbagh Mor, Lakepar, and parts of the Dhanmondi Lake area. Armed with gloves, masks, and brooms, over a hundred Jubo Dal activists actively took part in the cleanliness effort.
With the slogan—
“Let’s not litter — Let’s build a clean and tidy Dhanmondi,”
—this initiative has already gained wide appreciation from local residents.
The program was led by Md. Monir Hossain, former Joint Convener of Dhanmondi Thana Jubo Dal under Dhaka Metropolitan South, and Jubo Dal leader Sazzad Mahmud Sohel. They not only removed accumulated garbage but also ran a public awareness campaign on cleanliness among the community.
Jubo Dal leader former Joint Convener Md. Monir Hossain said Speaking to New Vision, :
“As per the directives of BNP’s Acting Chairman, Mr. Tarique Rahman, it is essential for Jubo Dal to engage not just in political activities but also in building a clean, healthy, and livable society.”
He added,
“We have already planted over 300 trees, installed bird nests on trees, and launched unique initiatives like planting medicinal plants in educational institutions.”
This creative campaign is being conducted under the guidance of Barrister Nasir Uddin Asim, a respected public figure of Dhanmondi, along with Khandaker Enamul Haque Enam, Convener of Dhaka Metropolitan South Jubo Dal, and Rabiul Islam Nayon, the Member Secretary.
Jubo Dal leader former Joint Convener Sazzad Mahmud Sohel stated:
“We are working to realize the dream of BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, the worthy son of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. InshaAllah, this campaign will continue regularly.”
Leaders and activists from various wards of Dhanmondi Thana Jubo Dal participated spontaneously in the cleanliness drive. Locals believe this proactive and awareness-raising effort is a major step toward transforming Dhanmondi into a cleaner and more livable area.
