After a nine-year hiatus, a new executive committee has been formed for the 34th BCS All Cadre Association. Saiful Islam Joy, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Rupganj, has been elected as the President, while Additional Superintendent of Police (Tejgaon Division) Jewel Rana has taken on the role of General Secretary.
The new committee was formed on Friday, April 25, during a special meeting held at the Officers’ Club, Dhaka.
According to a press release from the association, the meeting led to the formation of a three-member election commission. The commission was headed by Mansur Ali of the DCT (Tax) cadre, with Abidur Rahman, Senior Assistant Secretary and personal secretary to the Health Affairs Adviser, and Russell Monir, Additional Superintendent of Police, serving as members.
The meeting was chaired by Senior Assistant Secretary of the Planning Commission, Md. Azizur Rahman. Based on consensus, the participants decided to elect a two-member core committee. Mostafizur Rahman Mithu from the Education Cadre proposed the name of Saiful Islam Joy as President, which was unanimously approved.
Upon being elected, Saiful Islam Joy expressed his commitment to working for national development in the spirit of July’s legacy. General Secretary Jewel Rana added that the new committee envisions a post-revolution Bangladesh free from discrimination.
The press release also mentioned that a full committee will be announced within the next 30 working days.
