Maruf Kamal Khan, the former press secretary of the BNP chairperson, has claimed in a Facebook post that nearly 30,000 leaders and activists of the JASOD were killed during Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s three and a half years of rule.
He made this statement late Saturday night, around 1:00 AM.
In his post, he further added that no other political party in Bangladesh’s history has faced as much sacrifice as JASOD. He questioned, “But where is JASOD today? Due to wrong politics, the party, once full of potential, has decayed and nearly disappeared.”
Kamal’s post has generated a variety of comments from his followers and Facebook users.
Mainuddin Mahadi commented, “No one learns from history; this is the cruel lesson of history.”
Wahed Alam wrote, “The people of JASOD have forgotten that history. They became the closest allies of the Awami League.”
Gazi Alauddin Ahmed commented, “If you fail to understand the pulse of the people, your organization has to pay the price.”
Habib Babul wrote, “The figure of 30,000 seems inaccurate, but many killings have occurred across the country. There’s no accurate count of them.”
