The government has decided to establish two Public Service Commissions (PSCs), as informed by the Advisor to the Interim Government on Youth and Sports, Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan.

He shared this information in a Facebook post on Sunday (April 27) at 4:19 PM.

In his post, he mentioned, “In the latest Cabinet meeting, there was a detailed discussion about the PSC. After discussing issues like delays and irregularities, the government has decided to establish two PSCs. As soon as the movement began, I conveyed the students’ demands to the relevant authorities.”

He further said, “There was an arrangement to meet with the protesters’ team last Monday, but unfortunately, it did not happen. However, I have continuously forwarded the students’ demands to the concerned authorities.”

Asif Mahmud Sajib also added, “So far, the highest number of job notifications have been issued by the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives, apart from the police department, and the recruitment process is ongoing. In the coming months, at least 10,000 more recruitments will take place. I do not have the authority to make decisions or issue directives regarding the PSC, but I am doing everything I can and will continue to do so, Insha’Allah.”

Referring to the movement at KUET (Khulna University of Engineering and Technology), he said, “No matter what else is going on, the issues of the students are always my top priority. Even before the movement at KUET reached its peak, a delegation from there came to my house nearly 10 days prior. I personally delivered their memorandum to the education advisor the very next day and have been providing regular updates. I have tried to expedite the process of addressing their demands. It is wrong to assume that work is not happening unless it’s mentioned on Facebook.”

He continued, “Many of the protesters at TSC (Teacher-Student Center) are familiar to me. I did not think twice about going there at 4 or 5 AM, although I did wonder whether it would be appropriate. Additionally, I went to the Shaheed Jasim Bhai’s daughter’s memorial at Sohrawardy Medical College, but after not finding anyone, I returned around 5 AM. The news regarding the bail of the arrested individuals is not true. These criminals are in the CID’s custody, and the Ministry of Law is working to ensure exemplary punishment.”

Finally, he assured, “I will go to meet the brothers who are fasting at Rajshahi University after office hours. It should be remembered that the PSC is a constitutional, independent, and autonomous body. The students’ demands have already been conveyed to the relevant authorities, and I will discuss this matter with them again.”
