The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) has announced the postponement of the written exam for the 46th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS). This decision was announced on Sunday night, April 27, at 9 PM.
The postponement comes amidst protests by candidates who have been demanding reforms in the BPSC. On Sunday night, the protesters blocked roads at Shahbagh while continuing their demands for a delay in the exam. The announcement of the postponement came during the ongoing protests.
The main demands of the protesters include:
-
A new question paper for the 46th BCS written exam.
-
Holding the 46th BCS written exam only after the completion of the 44th BCS viva exams.
-
Allowing candidates to view their exam papers inside the commission office to ensure transparency in the evaluation process.
-
Increasing the number of BPSC members from 25 to 30.
-
Providing the opportunity to change cadre preferences after the viva and before the final result is announced.
Other demands also include publishing the marks for preliminary, written, and viva exams, releasing the written exam schedule at least two months in advance, ensuring transparency in the recommendation process, and reducing harassment during the verification process.
Previously, on April 9, the BPSC had stated that postponing the 46th BCS written exam was not feasible. However, they also mentioned that if the written exam and viva for the 44th BCS were scheduled on the same day, they would take necessary steps.
After the ongoing protests, the written exam, which was initially scheduled for May 8, has now been postponed.
