To organize and support lawyers who actively contributed to the July uprising and have remained vocal on the streets for justice, the National Citizens’ Party (NCP) has announced the formation of its “NCP Lawyers’ Wing.” Advocate Shakil Ahmed, the party’s Joint Chief Coordinator, has been appointed as the coordinator of the newly formed preparatory committee of the wing.
The announcement was made through a press release issued on Sunday (April 27), signed by NCP’s Joint Member Secretary (Office), Saleh Uddin Sifat.
The preparatory committee, led by Advocate Shakil Ahmed, includes the following members:

According to the release, the NCP Lawyers’ Wing will operate independently under its own constitution, aligning with the legal and political frameworks of the country. The wing aims to work with legal associations nationwide to ensure justice and uphold democratic values.
One of its core missions is to provide legal aid to victims of the July uprising and to contribute meaningfully toward establishing a free, impartial judiciary.
Speaking on his appointment, Advocate Shakil Ahmed said:
“This role is not just a position—it’s a reflection of the trust and love people have placed in me. With this committee, we aim to unite lawyers across the country under one platform to work toward building a new, just Bangladesh.”
