The government has established the ‘July Uprising Directorate’ to preserve the history of the July Uprising, rehabilitate the families of the martyrs and the injured, and officially establish the ideals of the uprising at the state level.
On Monday (April 28), the government issued a gazette notification announcing the formation of the directorate.
In this regard, the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs issued a notification, stating that based on the decision taken in the Advisory Council meeting on December 12, the July Uprising Directorate has been established under the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.
Earlier, on January 6, 2024, at a press conference at the Rail Bhaban, Nahid Islam, former advisor to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, announced the formation of the July Uprising Directorate under the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.
Additionally, on December 28, 2024, an inter-ministerial meeting was held under the chairmanship of Faruk I. Azam, the Advisor for Liberation War Affairs, with the objective of establishing the July Uprising Directorate. During the meeting, a policy decision was made to form the directorate, which was later approved in the Advisory Council meeting.
