A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of an apartment in Gulshan belonging to Saima Wazed Putul, daughter of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
On Tuesday (April 29), Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order in response to an application submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The court also appointed a receiver to manage the property. The information was confirmed by ACC spokesperson Akhtarul Islam.
The apartment in question is located at House No. 3 (Kobori), Road No. 7, Gulshan, Apartment No. 203, with an estimated value of Tk 2.7 million. The application for seizure and receiver appointment was filed by ACC Deputy Director Monirul Islam.
Previously, in connection with a forgery case involving a 10-katha land plot in Purbachal, arrest warrants were issued against 18 individuals, including Sheikh Hasina and her daughter Saima Wazed, who are reportedly abroad.
On January 12, ACC Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya filed the case, naming 16 accused including members of Sheikh Hasina’s family.
In a related move, the court also ordered the seizure of properties—including land, houses, and apartments—registered under the names of Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Putul, sister Sheikh Rehana, and Rehana’s children Radwan Mujib Siddiq and Tulip Rizwana Siddiq. Additionally, the court ordered the freezing of Tk 161.25 million held in the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust.
