Dhaka, October 4 — Aminul Haque, BNP’s central sports secretary and convenor of BNP’s Dhaka North unit, stated that just as smoking is harmful to health, Jamaat is harmful to religion. He accused Jamaat of using religion as a tool for political gain and warned that their exploitation of religion is dangerous for both faith and society.

Speaking as the chief guest at a free medical camp and medicine distribution program organized by BNP’s Pallabi and Rupnagar units on Paris Road in Pallabi, Aminul Haque said some political groups, including an Islamic party, are trying to delay the upcoming national parliamentary elections under various pretexts. He condemned these efforts as anti-democratic and against the rights of the people.

Aminul Haque emphasized that while BNP respects all religions as Muslims, those who distort religion for political advantage will never succeed. He criticized a recent Jamaat leader’s controversial remark equating fasting during Ramadan and Hindu puja as “two sides of the same coin,” calling it unacceptable to the people of Bangladesh.

He further expressed BNP’s vision of building a secular, harmonious Bangladesh where Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians live together in peace and solidarity. However, Jamaat’s continued politicization of religion poses a serious threat to the country’s peace and unity.

Highlighting BNP’s goals, Aminul Haque said the party works for the welfare of common people, national development, and ensuring quality education and healthcare for future generations. He called for a Bangladesh where citizens’ fundamental rights and dignity are upheld.

After the event, Aminul Haque participated in a tree-planting program at the Urban Children’s Park near Bowniabadh D Block in Pallabi Thana’s Ward 5.

Also present at the event were BNP Dhaka North Joint Convenor Gazi Rezaul Hossain Riaz, Mahabub Alam Montu, former president of BNP Volunteer Group Dhaka North Md. Anwar Hossain, Pallabi Thana BNP convenor Kamal Hossain Khan, Senior Joint Convenor Ashraf Ali Gazi, and Pallabi Thana Jubo Dal President Haji Noor Salam, among others.
