Police have arrested a housewife named Laki Khatun from Gabtali, Bogura, on charges of defrauding nearly 250 customers of over a crore taka through an app called “ADA Music,” by luring them with job opportunities and high returns.
She was caught late Saturday night (October 11) from the WAPDA Purana area of Bogura town.
Victims stated that the fraudulent activities began in January this year after opening the office in Bagbari, Gabtali. Initially, she promised a daily return of 125 taka on an investment of 3,800 taka, later encouraging larger investments with higher profits. Before launching the fifth level, Laki locked the office and disappeared with all the money.
Although complaints were filed at the Bagbari investigation center, no action was taken. Victims also alleged that Laki had accomplices, including a person named Chonchol.
On September 30, the victims held a human chain protest but received no resolution. On Saturday, after locating Laki, the victims detained her in Bogura town and staged a road blockade near WAPDA Gate.
Mahbub Alam, the investigation officer of Bogura Sadar Police Station, said a man named Ferdous Alam filed a case, and based on that, Laki Khatun was arrested and sent to the district jail by court order on Sunday.
Mostafa Manjur, Additional Superintendent of Police of Bogura Sadar Circle, stated that significant fraud was committed under the guise of an online investment scheme called “ADA Management System.” It is estimated that over 250 people have been defrauded so far.
