MPO-registered teachers, who have been protesting for a 20% increase in house rent and higher medical allowances, are continuing their sit-in for the third consecutive day today (October 10). As part of their new plan, they will hold a march to the Secretariat this afternoon. Teacher leaders have stated that their movement will continue until an official notification is issued.

Meanwhile, a group of Dhaka University students has announced a protest program to condemn police attacks on the teachers and to show solidarity with their legitimate demands.

The call for this protest was made last night on a Facebook group named Dhaka University Student Parliament-2.

In the post, they wrote, “We stand in solidarity with the MPO teachers’ movement and will join the streets. We urge conscientious students of Dhaka University to participate in the protest against police brutality on teachers and support their rightful demands.”

Today, around 11:30 AM, the students gathered at the Shaheed Minar to show unity with the teachers. Several students, including Mustaim Billah and Abid Abdullah, spoke at the event, pledging full support and promising to stand by the teachers at all times.
