At a discussion meeting in Thakurgaon, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated that if the fertilizer crisis and farmers’ demands are not addressed, they will besiege the Deputy Commissioner’s office. He emphasized that bureaucracy will no longer be tolerated.
Speaking at the meeting held on Thursday (October 16) at the Danarhat Eidgah ground in Begunbari Union, Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila, he made these remarks.
Regarding political movements, Fakhrul said, “Forget about quota reforms, hold elections and build the country. The people want to vote and want representatives. There will be debates over quota reforms in parliament, but what the country really needs is elections.”
He further accused the ruling party of coming to power through killings and claimed that although there have been three elections under Awami League, they gained power without a fair vote. “We have been fighting for voting rights for 15 years. The election scheduled for February 2026 has been accepted by all, and it will be a significant step toward establishing democracy.”
On the teachers’ movement, he said teachers are protesting and that if BNP comes to power, the entire education system will be nationalized. He also urged people to stand with BNP in the upcoming elections.
The meeting was attended by BNP’s district president Mirza Faisal Amin, general secretary Paygam Ali, Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila president Abdul Hamid, general secretary Mahabub Hossain Tuhin, and other party leaders and activists.
