Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, expressed confidence that the youth have placed their trust in the student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir, in the Dhaka University (DU), Jahangirnagar University (JU), and Chittagong University (CU) elections. He said the same pattern is visible everywhere, with both female and young voters supporting Islami Chhatra Shibir. The election is currently taking place at Rajshahi University, and he believes the nation will witness the impact of this trend in the future, God willing.
He made these remarks on Thursday (October 16) at a gathering held at the Police Convention Center in Mirpur, Dhaka-15 constituency.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “We are amazed to observe that two segments of society hold Islam dearly — our youth and the mothers of this nation. So far, elections have been held in three public universities, and the picture is the same everywhere: the trust of girls and youth lies with Islami Chhatra Shibir. Bangladesh will see the reflection of this in the days to come.”
On secularism, he stated, “Faith and belief are not for us to judge. We respect all citizens of this country regardless of their religion, political affiliation, skin color, language, or whether they live in the hills or plains. They are our brothers and sisters, citizens of this nation, and we will treat them accordingly.”
Highlighting Jamaat’s priorities, Shafiqur Rahman said, “We have international relations. The country’s economy is broken, overturned, and collapsing. We must rescue the country from corrupt hands and hand it over to true servants.”
He added, “That person may or may not be from our party, may be Muslim or of another faith. Whoever is fit for this responsibility should be given the key to lead. We want to build such an inclusive society.”
