Political Parties Absent from the July National Charter Signing Ceremony

The signing ceremony of the ‘July National Charter 2025,’ organized by the National Unity Commission, saw the participation of representatives from 25 political parties. The event took place on Friday (October 17) at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building, where key leaders, including Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, signed the charter.

However, several political parties did not attend the ceremony. Notably, the National Citizens’ Party (NCP) and four left-wing parties were absent. The parties that skipped the event include:

  • Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB)
  • Bangladesh Socialist Party (BSP)
  • BSP (Marxist)
  • Bangladesh Jasad

The event formally began with the national anthem, followed by the arrival of Professor Muhammad Yunus, who was present throughout the ceremony.

Parties That Signed the Charter:

The leaders who signed the charter included:

  • From BNP: Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed
  • From Jamaat-e-Islami: Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar and Naib Amir Dr. Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher
  • From Nagorik Oikko: President Mahmudur Rahman Manna and General Secretary Shahidullah Kaiser
  • Additionally, leaders from AB Party, Khelafat Majlish, State Reform Movement, Ganashonghoti Andolon, Gonoadhikar Parishad, JAGPA, Revolutionary Workers Party, LDP, NDM, JSD, Islami Andolon Bangladesh, Ganoforum, Jaker Party, Nezam-e-Islam Party, Labor Party, Bhasani Janashakti Party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh, Islami Oikya Jote, and Amjontar Dal also signed the charter.

Through this charter, the participating parties pledged political unity, though the absence of some key parties sparked discussions and criticism within political circles.
