Jahidul Islam, central president of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, has assured that everyone is free to practice any ideology of their choice, and the organization never forces anyone to follow anything against their will.
Speaking as the chief guest at the freshman welcome ceremony organized by the BM College branch of Shibir on Sunday (October 19) at 12:30 pm, he said, “If you like our ideals, accept them; if not, you are free to reject them. The politics of imposing ideology and pressure that happened in the past will no longer exist in Bangladesh.”
The event was presided over by Shahid Khan, president of the BM College Shibir branch, with Nahid Al Hasan serving as the moderator. Special guests included BM College principal Professor Dr. Sheikh Md. Tajul Islam and Shibir’s central sports secretary Harun Rashid Rafi.
Other notable attendees were BM College vice principal Professor Abu Taher Md. Rashedul Islam, former central office secretary and ex-president of Barishal metropolitan area Sheikh Niyamul Karim, former central da’wah secretary Mujahidul Islam, central executive committee member and Barishal metropolitan president Hasan Naeem, metropolitan secretary Abdur Rahman Sujan, office secretary Rashedul Hasan, and Baytul Mal secretary Nazmul Haque, among others.
Freshmen were warmly welcomed with flower garlands, and the program emphasized career planning, guidance for higher education, and fostering a positive mindset in academic life.
Speakers encouraged the new students to build not only their careers but also their moral values. “We will never forget the sacrifices of July’s Speed and July’s Martyrs. Their goal was to establish an equitable society, and we are committed to fulfilling that dream,” they said.
