Sargis Alam, chief organizer of the National Citizens Party (NCP) for the northern region, has declared former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina a “murderer” and stated that he is awaiting the maximum punishment for her under the laws of Bangladesh.

In a verified Facebook post made on Sunday (June 1), Sargis wrote, “Hasina is responsible for ordering the killing of over a thousand people. She is a murderer. We now await the maximum punishment prescribed by Bangladeshi law for such crimes.”

Meanwhile, the International Crimes Tribunal has accepted five specific charges against Sheikh Hasina and two others in connection with crimes against humanity during the July–August crackdown. The two other accused are former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun.

The tribunal has issued fresh arrest warrants for Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, while Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has been shown as arrested in the case.

The three-member tribunal, led by Chairman Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Mojumder, issued the order on Sunday.

Earlier that day, formal charges were officially submitted against Sheikh Hasina for crimes against humanity committed during the mass uprising of July and August. The proceedings were broadcast live on Bangladesh Television with approval from the tribunal.
