On Tuesday, June 3, Salahuddin Ahmad, a member of BNP’s standing committee, filed a complaint at the International Crimes Tribunal accusing former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and seven others of his enforced disappearance. He submitted the complaint at the office of the Chief Prosecutor of the tribunal.

After filing the complaint, Salahuddin told reporters that cases regarding enforced disappearances and killings would be brought before the International Crimes Tribunal. However, he expressed frustration over the lack of visible action so far.

He demanded justice, urging that all those involved in enforced disappearances and killings, including the former Prime Minister, be held accountable. He also called on the commission to ensure punishment for those already arrested and to locate and bring back those who are still absconding.

Salahuddin further stated that former army officer Ziaul Ahsan and others implicated in enforced disappearances must be brought under the law. He emphasized that it is the government’s responsibility to hold everyone accountable and to end the culture of enforced disappearances and killings in the country permanently.

Notably, Salahuddin went missing from Uttara, Dhaka, on March 10, 2015. Nearly two months later, on May 11, local police in Shillong, India, found him. Due to lack of valid documents, he was charged under the Foreigners Act by Meghalaya police. Although a lower court acquitted him in 2018, the Indian government appealed the verdict, forcing him to remain there.
