Today marks the celebration of Eid-ul-Azha, one of the most significant religious festivals for Muslims. For generations, devout Muslims have observed this day in the spirit of sacrifice and devotion. Through the ritual of animal sacrifice, they demonstrate obedience and submission to the will of Allah.

On Saturday (June 7), from early morning, worshippers across the country will head to Eidgahs to perform the two Rakat wajib prayer of Eid-ul-Azha. After the prayer, they will offer animal sacrifices in hopes of earning divine satisfaction.

In Dhaka, the first Eid prayer will take place at 7:00 AM at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, led by Principal Khalilur Rahman Madani of Tamirul Millat Kamil Madrasa. The main congregation will be held at 7:30 AM at the National Eidgah on the Supreme Court premises. In case of adverse weather or unsuitable conditions, the main congregation will shift to Baitul Mukarram at 8:00 AM.

Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, along with members of the Advisory Council, Supreme Court justices, and people from various sectors, are expected to attend the main congregation at the Eidgah.

According to the Islamic Foundation, five congregations will be held at Baitul Mukarram this year: at 7:00 AM, 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, and 10:45 AM.

Comprehensive security and service arrangements have been made for those attending the National Eidgah. The large congregation space will accommodate around 35,000 worshippers, including a VIP block for 250 individuals. Police, RAB, and other law enforcement agencies have been deployed to ensure security. Facilities such as ablution, sanitation, clean drinking water, medical teams, and ambulances will also be available. Additionally, there will be a separate prayer area and entrance for women.

At Dhaka University, two congregations will take place at the central mosque at 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM. Eid prayers will also be held at the Salimullah Muslim Hall mosque at 7:00 AM, the lawn of Shahidullah Hall at 8:00 AM, and the field beside Fazlul Huq Muslim Hall at 8:00 AM.

Across Dhaka, over a hundred Eidgahs and more than 1,500 mosques will host Eid congregations.

The country’s largest Eid congregation takes place each year at the Sholakia field in Kishoreganj. This year’s prayer will begin at 9:00 AM, led by Maulana Abul Khair Mohammad Saifullah, the Khatib of the Boro Bazar Mosque. Two platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have already been deployed at the Sholakia Eidgah to ensure safety.
