The government has appointed decorated freedom fighter Md. Ishteaque Aziz (Ulfat) as the new administrator of the Freedom Fighters and Freedom Fighters’ Family Welfare Association, replacing MM Mahmudullah.
The appointment was confirmed in an official order signed on Tuesday (October 21) by the Director General of the Department of Social Services, Md. Saidur Rahman Khan.
According to the order, following the submission of an administrative report dated July 21 regarding various matters of the association, MM Mahmudullah, who served as Additional Director-4, has been relieved of his duties as administrator. Ishteaque Aziz has been appointed in his place with immediate effect.
The order outlines the responsibilities of the new administrator as follows:
- Take over charge directly from the outgoing administrator.
- Operate in accordance with the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration and Control) Ordinance, 1961; the associated Rules of 1962; and the association’s approved constitution.
- Organize and complete the Executive Committee election within 90 days as per the rules.
- Transfer responsibilities to the newly elected Executive Committee at the earliest opportunity after the election.
- Seek prior approval from the registering authority before incurring any expenses other than salaries and allowances for staff.
- Submit a monthly progress report to the Department of Social Services between the 1st and 5th of each month.
With the appointment of a new administrator, the government expects smoother operations and renewed momentum within the Freedom Fighters’ Welfare Association.
