Nasir Uddin Sathi, father of content creator Touhid Afridi, has been arrested in connection with a case filed at Jatrabari Police Station over allegations of attacks on an anti-discrimination movement and killing of protesters. He was taken into custody on Sunday evening (August 17) in Gulshan by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
The arrest was confirmed by Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations at Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
According to DB sources, a team from the DB’s Wari division conducted a raid in the Gulshan police jurisdiction and arrested Nasir Uddin from his residence. There is an ongoing case against him at Jatrabari Police Station, which was filed on August 30 last year and is currently being investigated by the police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The case names the former autocratic leader Sheikh Hasina as the primary accused. Former Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader is listed as the second accused, and former Inspector General of Police Abdullah Al Mamun as the third.
Touhid Afridi is accused as the 11th defendant, while his father Nasir Uddin Sathi is the 22nd defendant in the case. In total, 25 people have been charged, with an additional 150 unidentified individuals also listed as accused.
