Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor, met with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on the sidelines of the World Food Forum (WFF), held at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in Rome. The meeting took place on Monday, October 13, and was confirmed by the Chief Advisor’s press wing.
Earlier in the day, Dr. Yunus attended the opening ceremony of the World Food Forum as the chief guest. In his speech, he stated:
“The root cause of global hunger and poverty is economic mismanagement. To build a world free from poverty, we must rethink our systems and embrace innovative, inclusive solutions.”
He proposed a six-point action plan to combat hunger and emphasized the role of social business in creating sustainable, long-term change. Dr. Yunus also called upon the youth to take the lead in shaping a just and equitable world.
At approximately 4:00 PM Bangladesh time, Dr. Yunus arrived at the WFF venue, where he was warmly welcomed by senior officials of the organizing body. He was given an official reception upon his arrival.
Beginning his speech with a tribute to the martyrs of July, Dr. Yunus said:
“We are in the process of rebuilding our institutions to reflect the dreams and aspirations of our youth. Through the upcoming national elections in February, the people of Bangladesh will move forward on the path to empowerment.”
The event was attended by heads of state, policymakers, development experts, and youth leaders from around the world. Dr. Yunus’s address was met with keen attention, highlighting his vision for a future driven by social responsibility, inclusive leadership, and economic justice.
