The Bangladesh Puja Celebration Council has expressed strong condemnation and protest over the killing of a young man by throat-slitting in Noakhali, the brutal beating and murder of a housewife in Khulna, and the theft at temples in Jessore. The organization has also called for the swift arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
In a joint statement issued on Wednesday (October 15), Council President Basudev Dhar and General Secretary Santosh Sharma made the appeal to the authorities.
The statement noted that on Monday, armed miscreants publicly slit the throat of a young man named Subrata Chandra Das on the streets of Subarnachar in Noakhali. Additionally, on September 8, in Sutarakhali Union of Dacope Upazila, Khulna, a housewife named Rekha Mondal was beaten to death, and her husband and son were seriously injured by local criminals.
Furthermore, late on Sunday night, a gang of robbers looted three temples in Baliadanga Devalaya, Keshabpur Upazila, Jessore, stealing valuable items including gold ornaments and Shalgram Shilas.
The Bangladesh Puja Celebration Council has demanded a prompt investigation into these heinous acts and urged that the perpetrators be brought to justice without delay.
