Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, stated that through the signing of the July National Charter, a new Bangladesh has been initiated. He emphasized that this charter will serve as the foundation for moving the country forward.

He made these remarks on Friday afternoon at the signing ceremony held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament building.

Dr. Yunus said the people’s uprising provided an opportunity to leave behind old and unnecessary debates, bringing new issues to the forefront of national life. Among the key changes are constitutional amendments and other matters related to government administration.

He assured that the charter contains many new elements that will transform the country and will attract attention from around the world.

Thanking the political parties for their commitment to making the charter successful, the Chief Adviser said that the responsibility of nation-building will lie with the next government, and this July Charter is the preparation for that.

Recalling the role of the youth in the July uprising, he said the young generation will build the new Bangladesh and lead the nation forward. “They will show us the way. This country belongs to the youth. Half of the 180 million population is under 27 years of age — they are our greatest asset.”

Dr. Yunus added that the world is watching Bangladesh with awe and anticipation, waiting to send support through its young people, as many countries around the globe are facing a shortage of youth. “Some countries hardly have any young people left. The world is looking towards us. This is our golden opportunity. The youth have a chance not only to change Bangladesh but also the world.”

He expressed hope that this consensus will be managed well and pave the way for progress in the coming days. The new roadmap created by this charter will lead Bangladesh toward a bright future.

Earlier, after months of dialogue and consensus-building, the historic ‘July National Charter 2025’ was finalized and signed by representatives of various political parties. Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus also signed the charter during the ceremony.
