The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast the possibility of thunderstorms and gusty winds in parts of the country by midday today. The alert, issued for river ports, is valid from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 18.
According to the forecast signed by meteorologist K.M. Hafizur Rahman, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar regions may experience rain or thunderstorms accompanied by gusty or squally winds blowing from the south or southeast at speeds of 45 to 60 km/h. River ports in these areas have been advised to hoist Cautionary Signal No. 1.

The latest 120-hour forecast suggests that light to moderate rain or thunderstorms may occur in some areas of Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions today.
Elsewhere in the country, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry, with partly cloudy skies in some regions. Day and night temperatures across the country are likely to remain mostly unchanged, the forecast added.
