Gold prices in Bangladesh have once again reached a record-breaking high. The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced on Sunday night (October 19) that the price of 22-carat gold has been increased by Tk 1,050 per bhori (11.664 grams). With the latest adjustment, the new price of 22-carat gold stands at Tk 217,382 per bhori — the highest ever in the country’s history.

The new pricing will come into effect from Monday, October 20.

According to BAJUS, the hike was necessary due to a rise in the price of pure gold (tejabi gold) in the local market, prompting a revision of overall gold prices.

Updated Gold Prices (Per Bhori):

  • 22-carat – Tk 217,382
  • 21-carat – Tk 207,503
  • 18-carat – Tk 177,853
  • Traditional method – Tk 148,075

BAJUS also clarified that the listed prices do not include the government-imposed 5% VAT and the association’s mandatory 6% minimum making charge. The actual making charges may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewellery.

Previously, on October 14, BAJUS raised gold prices by Tk 2,613 per bhori, setting the 22-carat rate at Tk 216,332 — which, until now, was the highest recorded price.

Gold Price Adjustments in 2025:

So far in 2025, gold prices have been adjusted 66 times — 48 increases and only 18 decreases. In comparison, prices were adjusted 62 times in 2024, with 35 hikes and 27 reductions.

Silver Prices Remain Unchanged:

While gold prices have surged, silver prices remain unchanged, holding steady at historically high levels.

Current Silver Prices (Per Bhori):

  • 22-carat – Tk 6,205
  • 21-carat – Tk 5,914
  • 18-carat – Tk 5,074
  • Traditional method – Tk 3,802

BAJUS confirmed that these silver rates are the highest ever recorded in Bangladesh.
