A new milestone has been set in the history of the Padma and Jamuna bridges, with both recording the highest-ever number of vehicles crossing in a single day, along with record-breaking toll collections totaling nearly Tk 100 crore.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges at 1 AM on Friday, June 6, combined traffic on both bridges exceeded 100,000 vehicles in just one day.

On Thursday, June 5, a record 52,487 vehicles crossed the Padma Bridge, generating a toll collection of Tk 54.33 crore. On the same day, the Jamuna Bridge (Bangabandhu Bridge) saw a record 64,283 vehicles, collecting Tk 41.81 crore in tolls. This marks the highest-ever figures for both vehicle crossings and toll revenue in the history of the two bridges.

Previously, the highest number of vehicles on the Padma Bridge was recorded on June 26, 2022—the day of its inauguration—with 51,316 vehicles. The highest toll collected before this was Tk 48.99 crore on April 9, 2024.

For the Jamuna Bridge, the previous traffic record was 55,621 vehicles on June 27, 2023, and the highest toll revenue was Tk 38.34 crore on June 14, 2024.

This latest achievement highlights the increasing importance of these vital transport corridors and the growing demand for road connectivity across Bangladesh.
